A nice original pair of Second World War period British Khaki Drill Shorts.
These shorts, like the majority of KD items, are theatre made and quite likely Indian. The British Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy were all supplied with KD manufactured in India such as this whilst serving in the Middle and Far East as the supply chains were shorter than shipping clothing from England.
This particular pair of shorts are typical of the era featuring a double pleated front, slash pockets on each hip, a single rear pocket and waist adjusters on the waistband. One waist adjuster comes with the corresponding metalwork which is more often than not missing from original KD items offered on the market today.
The shorts are a wearable larger size measuring at 17 1/2" across the waist making them an ideal fit for someone of around a 33-35" waist. The side adjuster will help them fit slightly smaller than the above measurement.
The condition of the shorts is good as can be seen in the pictures. They have been worn and laundered but overall display well.
Altogether a nice original pair of British Khaki Drill shorts in a larger size which would be ideal for a re-enactor.
