A hard to find original pair of British Army officer's long socks as worn with shorts in tropical climates. These socks belonged to Major B D Ashton who was a member of the Royal Army Service Corps in the inter-war period and served throughout the Second World War. He was awarded the North Africa Star, Italy Star and France and Germany Star so he certainly saw some action.
This type of sock was popular with British Army officer's for many decades. They are of private purchase origin, like most officer's kit, and are a paler colour than often encountered. They feature a nice pattern detail towards the top which is typical of the period.
The socks are in well worn condition with some holes and staining. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that they are a pre-worn, vintage item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A hard to find piece of officer's uniform which is attributed and therefore a guaranteed authentic item.
