Original WW2 British Army Officer's Shirt By 'Clydella' - Size 16

SOLD

An original British Army Officers collarless shirt dating from the Second World War which was made by 'Clydella'.

This particular shirt is typical of those worn in the early part of WW2 and is essentially unchanged from those of the Great War. Made from a soft, khaki coloured wool flannel; the shirt features a half placket, or 'tunic' front. This style of shirt was popular in the first half of the 20th Century in the UK losing favour to more fitted full button front shirts in the 1950s. The shirt features a neckband collar made from the same material as the body of the shirt and lined with linen.

The shirt is in new old stock condition and has clearly never been worn. This is borne out by the original cardboard swing label which is still attached. It features typical period graphics and the brand name of 'Clydella'. Inside the shirt the original label is still present which again bears the makers name 'Clydella' above the night and day wear logo - This is often found on officers shirts. Above this is another label which reads 'This garment must not be sold except to members of H. M. Forces which confirms this as a military shirt. The collar size is also marked in ink to the neckband and reads '16'.

The shirt is a medium size which will fit around a 40" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 24"
Inside arm - 21 1/4"
Outside arm - 25 1/4"
Shoulders -
Collar - 16
Length at front -
Length at back -

The shirt is in excellent, unworn condition and is still totally wearable. There are no signs of previous wear or use although there are a couple of superficial marks to the rear which are illustrated in picture 8. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have flaws commensurate with age.

All in all a nice original British officers shirt with a great label. Ideal for the collector and re-enactor alike!
