An original pair of British Army camouflage windproof trousers dating from the Second World War which belonged to a member of 22 SAS who wore them in the 1960s.
This pattern of trousers was introduced in 1943 and was based on the earlier drab and snow windproof trousers. These examples are made from the lightweight gabardine fabric and are cut in the same style as the earlier windproofs with a wide leg, drawstring waist and map pocket to the left leg. The seat features a reinforced section and ankle tabs are located to the cuff which fasten with green vegetable ivory (plastic) buttons.
The trousers are designed to be worn over the battledress uniform and are therefore cut in a wide manner. The drawstring waist allows them to be pulled in a lot but when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 22"
Rise - 16"
Rear rise - 20 1/2"
Inside leg - 28 1/2"
Outside leg - 43"
Cuff - 10 1/2"
The trousers are in good condition overall with signs of wear and use. There are numerous repairs which have been done using pieces of camouflaged windproof material. There are some other period repairs and marks etc. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item.
