Original Inter-war Period British Officers Khaki Drill Tunic

Original Inter-war Period British Officers Khaki Drill Tunic

Code: 50922

SOLD

An original British Officers Khaki Drill tunic as worn in both World Wars and into the post-war period.

This particular tunic came with a very early pair of matching KD trousers which would suggest it is of Great War or early inter-war vintage. This pattern was used for many years however, and as is often the case is impossible to date accurately as it has no label, date stamps or similar. The matching trousers were made in Singapore so this was likely made in the there also.

The tunic is the standard British pattern made from khaki drill material which has been started for smartness, as was common practice at the time. It is a long sleeved version, features scalloped breast pocket flaps, bellows lower pockets, epaulettes and hand stitched holes on the collar for collar badges to be fitted though.

The tunic is a small size and will fit around a 38” chest. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 40”
Waist - 17 1/2”
Shoulders - 16 1/4”
Inside arm - 18 1/2”
Outside arm - 25”
length - 31 1/2”

The overall condition of the tunic is good as can be seen in the pictures. As previously mentioned it has been starched but this could be removed with washing if you wanted to return it a softer cotton feel. Obviously there are no buttons included as these are removable. Ideally specific regimental buttons of your choice would be added.

All in all a good original tunic in a wearable size. Ideal for the collect and re-enactor alike.
