It is made from cellular cotton which is often referred to as 'Aertex' which is a lightweight breathable fabric, ideally suited to warm weather climates. The shirt features long sleeves with a buttoning cuff, a full button front, patch pockets to the chest and flapped pockets to the skirt. As well as this it features Epaulettes and all the buttons are vegetable ivory (plastic) examples.

Inside the shirt the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It states the shirt as being a large size No. 4  which is designed to fit a 37" -39" chest and a 33" -35" waist. The manufacturer's name is stated as 'Ballymena MFG Co. Ltd' and both the 1943 date and the War Department broad arrow marking are also present.

The shirt sill suit around a 39" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 22 1/4"
Waist - 19 1/2"
Inside arm - 22"
Outside arm - 25 1/2"
Shoulders - 17 3/4"

The shirt is in great condition with only limited signs of wear and age. It displays nicely and is still very wearable but does have some damage to both cuff buttons. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

An original wartime attributed shirt in fantastic condition. This would make an excellent addition to a collection or could well suit a re-enactor.
