Original 1944 Dated British Army Camouflage Windproof Trousers Size 7

Original 1944 Dated British Army Camouflage Windproof Trousers Size 7

Code: 54803

An original pair of 1944 dated British Army camouflage windproof trousers in good condition.

This pattern of trousers was introduced in 1943 and was based on the earlier drab and snow windproof trousers. These examples are made from the  lightweight gabardine fabric and are cut in the same style as the earlier windproofs with a wide leg, drawstring waist and map pocket to the left leg. The seat features a reinforced section and ankle tabs are located to the cuff which fasten with green vegetable ivory (plastic) buttons.

To the rear of the trousers the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Trousers Windproof' and the size of 7. Towards the bottom of the label is the War Department broad arrow marking and the maker's name of Denhams (Norwich) Ltd. Below this is the 1944 date.

The trousers are designed to be worn over the battledress uniform and are therefore cut in a wide manner. The drawstring waist allows them to be pulled in a lot but when laid flat they measure -

Waist - 21"
Rise - 15 1/2"
Rear rise - 20"
Inside leg - 31 1/2"
Outside leg - 46"
Cuff - 11"

The trousers are in very good condition with next to no signs of previous wear or use. The colours are bold and vibrant and there is no damage or serious flaws. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A very nice original pair of wartime windproof trousers!
