An original pair of 1942 Pattern British Army Khaki Drill Trousers most likely dating from 1942-43.
This pattern of trousers came into use with the British Army during the middle of the Second World War and is one of the more sought-after patterns today. They feature a First Field Dressing pocket to the right hip as well as a fly button front and brace buttons, all of which are stamped metal examples which would suggest that these were made in 1942 or 1943. Other notable features found on this pattern of trousers are the twin pleated front and rear and the extra buttons for the waist tab to allow for different fittings at the waist - a precursor to the cross belt design introduced in 1944 and used for many years post-war.
The trousers will suit a 34" waist. When laid flat they measure -
Waist - 17”
Rise - 16”
Rear rise - 17 1/2”
Inside leg - 32 1/2”
Outside leg - 45"
Cuff - 10 1/2”
The trousers are in good, wearable condition for their age with some signs of wear and use. They are still very wearable and display well with some staining etc. There are a couple of missing buttons and some rust marks but these do not overly detract from the trousers. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that these are a pre-worn pair of vintage trousers which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
Altogether a nice pair of original Khaki Drill trousers which in a sought after pattern.
