Original 1942 Dated Royal East Kent Regiment Officer's Pullover Jumper

Original 1942 Dated Royal East Kent Regiment Officer's Pullover Jumper

Code: 55452

An original British Army ordinary rank's officer's pullover jumper which belonged to a Lieutenant who served with the Royal East Kent Regiment during the Second World War. I believe the original owner was the brother of 320940 Ronald Herbert Gibbins who was an officer in the Gloucestershire Regiment during the Second World War.

The jumper is a standard British Army ordinary ranks example as worn throughout the Second World War. It is machined knitted in wool and features a V-neck and cuff detail. The original owner has tailored the jumper to have openins at each shoulder and has added buttons to the shoulders to which khaki green coloured wool epaulettes are fitted. These are fitted with two khaki coloured rank stars each as well as a curved regimental title which reads 'BUFFS'.

Inside the jumper the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the maker's name of 'Jantzen Knitting Mills Ltd' who were a prolific maker of swimwear and underwear in Great Britain during this period. The size is stated as 2 and the year of manufacture is 1942. The War Department broad arrow is also present.

The jumper will fit around a 36" chest and when laid flat it meausres -

Chest - 17" (Stretches to 18")
Inside arm - 21 1/2"
Outside arm - 21 1/2"
Shoulders - 17 1/2"
Length at rear - 25"

The jumper is in worn condition with various holes etc. Overall it still displays nicely but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which has some flaws commensurate with age.

A unique original British Army officer's jumper with fantastic original period fitted shoulder boards.
