An original pair of Khaki Drill shorts which were made in New Zealand in 1942.
These shorts are typical of WW2 manufacture and are made of a khaki coloured cotton drill material. They feature brass buttons to the fly, slash pockets to each hip and a first field dressing pocket to the rear.
Inside the shorts All the original stamps are present and still bright and legible. The waistband features the New Zealand broad arrow marking which is surmounted by the letter 'O' which denotes 1942. A second stamp reads 'No2' which may relate to size whilst the third and final stamp relates to the 1942 manufacture date.
The shorts will fit someone of around a 32 " waist. When laid flat they measure -
Waist - 16 1/2"
Rise - 13 3/4"
Rear rise - 16"
Inside leg - 10"
The shorts are in good condition and are still very wearable with no signs of undue wear. They do have a variety of stains from use as can be see in the pictures. Please take time to study them and bare in mind that they are a pair of pre-worn vintage shorts and may have small issues consummate with their age.
All in all a nice pair of original wartime shorts. New Zealand made khaki drill is rare making these a collectable in their own right!
