Original 1942 Dated British Army Service Dress Trousers

An original pair of British Army Service Dress trousers dated 1942.

This rare pair of wartime trousers are unchanged from the pre-war design. They are made from the standard serge wool used for British Army uniforms during the First and Second World Wars and features stamped brass buttons. The rear of the trousers features a 'fishtail' back whilst the leg is cut in a narrow fashion and are tell-tale signs of what many collectors refer to as '1922 pattern'.

Inside the trousers have numerous markings including the size and the War Department broad arrow stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'O' denoting 1942 as the year of manufacture. There is evidence of where the original paper label was previously attached although it is sadly no longer present.

The trousers are a small size and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 15 1/4"
Inside leg - 27"

The trousers are in reasonable condition for their age but have clearly seen plenty of use. There are some small holes and repairs to the legs as well as some staining which has been reflected in the price. Overall they are sound and display well but please study the pictures for a better idea of condition.

Altogether a nice original pair of trousers which are hard to find, especially with a clear wartime date. Ideal for the early war collector!
