Original 1942 Dated British Army 1922 Pattern Service Dress Trousers

Code: 55942

SOLD

An original pair of British Army Service Dress trousers dated 1942 which are in excellent condition.

This rare pair of wartime trousers are unchanged from the pre-war design. They are made from the standard serge wool used for British Army uniforms during the Second World War and feature stamped brass buttons throughout. The rear of the trousers features a 'fishtail' back whilst the leg is cut in a narrow fashion - a tell-tale sign of what many collectors now refer to as '1922 pattern'.

To the rear of the trousers, the original paper label is still present. It bears the title 'Trousers Service Dress O.R. Pattern - 38' below which is the size of 12 and the maker's name of 'L. Silberston & Sons'. The War Department broad arrow is also present as is a issue date stamp of October 1942. Inside the trousers the War Department broad arrow acceptance stamp is still present and is surmounted by the letter 'O' denoting 1942 as the year of manufacture.

The trousers will suit a tall person of around a 33" waist depending on a small size and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 16 3/4"
Rise - 15"
Rear rise - 19 1/2"
Inside leg - 33"
Outside leg - 45 1/2"
Cuff - 9 1/2"

The trousers are in excellent condition for their age with no real signs of wear or use. They display very well and are totally wearable with a very fresh and could be un-issued. There are some minor moth grazes etc, some of which are illustrated in the pictures. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing as it is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have flaws commensurate with age.

Altogether a nice original pair of trousers which are hard to find, especially with a clear wartime date. Ideal for the early war collector!
