Original 1941 Dated British Army Dispatch Riders Breeches - Size 4

Original 1941 Dated British Army Dispatch Riders Breeches - Size 4

Code: 52541

SOLD

An original pair of 'S.D. Pantaloons, Motor Cyclists' Clearly dated 1941 and in a size 4.

These breeches are the early pattern made from a fine lightweight whipcord which are much different to the later issue examples which were made from serge or a heavy corduroy. The feature brass buttons, typical of early items and a first field dressing pocket to the front.

The interior of the breeches features the War Department broad arrow marking which is surmounted by the letter 'P' which denotes 1941 as the year of issue.

The original label is still present to the rear of the breeches although it has been washed out. The size of 4 is stamped to the interior and the acceptance stamp dates them so this is not a huge issue.

When laid flat the breeches measure -

Waist - 15"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear rise - 18"
Inside leg - 25 1/2"
Outside leg - 36 1/2"
Calf - 5 1/2"

The breeches are in good condition with some signs of wear and use. They display well overall but have some light coloured marks which have been reflected in the low price. These are a vintage item of 80 years old so may have other small issues consummate with this.

Altogether a good pair of early war breeches which would make a nice addition to any WW2 collection.
