An original set of British military pyjamas as worn by the members of the British Army and RAF throughout the 1940s and into the 1950s.
Sometimes referred to as 'army-jarmies', these striped pyjamas are synonymous with the period. They are made from a very lightweight brushed cotton which is soft to the touch and feature a typically period striped pattern of sky blue with white and orange stripes. The jacket fastens with white plastic buttons (one replaced with an early style cloth covered brass example) whilst the trousers fasten with a drawstring at the waist.
Being pyjamas, both the jacket and trousers are cut in a wide, loosen manner which offers as much freedom of movement as possible. With this in mind I would suggest a fit of around a 38" chest. When laid flat they measure -
Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 18 1/2"
Length - 29 1/2"
Waist - 18"
Inside leg - 28 1/2"
The set is in reasonably good condition for its age. There are some signs of ae and wear including some small holes to the rear of the jacket and minor staining to both pieces. Please study the pictures carefully before purchasing as this is not a perfect, brand new set.
A good example of these classic WW2 period pyjamas!
