An original 1940s British khaki drill shirt in used condition.
This shirt is clearly British made rather than theatre made and is an interesting design which I believe may be a Royal Marine pattern but would like to hear from anyone who knows exactly what it is. It is made from a plain cotton and features green rubber buttons as are often found on British made KD shirts made during this period. It features an interesting collar design which fastens down onto the body of the shirt in a similar way to a button-down collar but meaning it can be worn open at the neck.
The shirt is a smaller size which will suit someone of around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 21"
Inside arm - 21 1/2"
Outside arm - 23 1/4"
Shoulders - 16 1/2"
Collar - 15"
The shirt is in worn condition as can be seen in the pictures. It shows signs of age and use including a repair to the right sleeve, a panel of aertex which has been added to the rear and some staining. These all add to the character and look to be original period repairs. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.
All in all an interesting original 1940s period Khaki Drill shirt which would make a good addition to any collection.
