An original 1940s British Army Officers private purchase Jungle Green Bush jacket with Land Forces Hong Kong shoulder insignia.
This jacket is typical of those made for British Army officers during the 1940s. It features pleated chest pockets with scalloped flaps, lower bellows pockets which are again flapped, long sleeves with a buttoning cuff and a matching waist belt and brass buckle. The epaulettes feature hand stitched holes which look to be for a shoulder title and a single rank star, suggesting that the original owner was a Second Lieutenant.
To the top of each sleeve is an original printed Land Forces Hong Kong patch which appears to be original to the jacket and suggests that the original owner served in the immediate post-war years. It is of course possible the jacket dates from earlier and this was its last incarnation.
The jacket is a smaller size and will fit around a 36-38” chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 21”
Inside arm - 18 1/2”
Outside arm - 23 1/4”
Length - 31”
Waist - 34”
The jacket is in good condition for its age and still has plenty of life left in it. There is a small area of stitching coming away under one arm but this is however not a hole as only one of the two lines of stitching has come away. This is detailed in the pictures. Please study them as they form part of the description and remember that this is a pre-worn vintage item.
All in all a very nice original WW2 period British Army Officers Jungle Green Bush Jacket in good wearable condition. It would make an excellent addition to any collection or wardrobe without a doubt!
