A scarce pair of 1940 dated Denim Battledress trousers in excellent condition.
These rare first pattern denim trousers have all the features of an early manfactured pair of trousers. They have a single pleat First Field Dressing pocket on the right hip, covered buttons on noth the map pocket and rear pocket, belt loops and button tabs at the bottom of each leg.
Inside the trousers is the WD stamp which is surmounted by a Q which denotes 1940 as the year of manufacture. The original label is sadly missing but there is a clear stitch line on the left hip where it was originally placed on the trousers.
The trousers are in excellent condition and not have not been overly worn or washed and retain a lot of their original colour. There are marks on the trousers, particualry to the bottom of each leg which I have left alone. They may well wash out however.
The trousers are a 32" waist and a 28" inside leg, so on the smaller side.
A beautiful pair of early British Army trousers in great condition which would suit the collector or re-enactor equally.
