An original pair of 'Trousers, Drab' which were made in 1942 and are in deadstock, unworn condition.

These windproof trousers were introduced in 1942 along with the matching smock which was made in the same material. Based on the same design as the denim smock and trousers and produced in two different but similar materials; these examples are made from the lightweight gabardine fabric rather than the mottled coloured 'salt and pepper' type. The trousers feature a drawstring waist and a map pocket to the front which fastens with a chocolate brown coloured plastic button - typical of mid-war manufacture. Both the knees and the seat feature reinforcement sections.

The original label is still present to the rear of the trousers and is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Trousers' below which is the size of 2 which is intended to fit a 34" - 35" waist. The maker's name of 'Thomas Briggs Ltd' is also present as is the 1942 date and the War Department broad arrow.

The trousers are designed to be worn over a uniform so they are cut in a loose manner. The draw string allows the waist to be pulled in and when laid flat they measure -

Waist - 21"
Rise - 17"
Rear rise - 20 1/2"
Inside leg - 32"
Outside leg - 47"
Cuff - 10"

The trousers are in fantastic unissued condition and could be described as 'deadstock'. They have clearly never been worn or used and the fabric even retains its factory sheen! There are some light marks from many decades in storage which are evident in the pictures and may come out with careful cleaning. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing however and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn ite which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A very good original pair of windproof trousers in unworn condition complete with all of their original labels and stamps.
