An original pair of 1940s black coloured rayon shorts which belonged to Major B D Ashton who was a member of the Royal Army Service Corps in the inter-war period and served throughout the Second World War. He was awarded the North Africa Star, Italy Star and France and Germany Star so he certainly saw some action.
The shorts are typical of the period being very simple in design with no pockets and an elastic waist. The interior features a size label which bears the number '4' in red against a white field.
Due to the elasticated waist the shorts will fit a number of waist sizes from 26" to 36" depending on desired fit. When relaxed they measure 13" across the waist and when stretched the measure 18 1/2"
The shorts are in good condition with some signs of wear and age. Overall they display well but please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which has flaws commensurate with age.
