An original British Army Officer's Shirt dating from the 1940s which is in good condition.

This shirt is made from a green coloured linen cotton mix which was a popular choice for British officers during the 1930s and 1940s. The shirt is typical of those worn in the first half of the 20th Century in the UK having a half-placket front which was common until full button front shirts gained popularity in the 1950s. This style of officer's shirt was worn in the Great War and remained virtually unchanged by WW2. The shirt features a neckband collar which was designed to be worn with matching detachable collars. The inside of the neckband features the War Department broad arrow marking as well as the manufacturer's initials.

The shirt is a small size which will suit someone of around a 34" chest, depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 20 1/4"
Inside arm - 21"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 17"
Length at back - 35"
Collar - 14"

The shirt is in very good condition with signs of wear and use. Overall it displays very well and looks to still be very wearable. There is a small flaw to where the neckband meets to the shirt which can be seen in picture 5 which is purely aesthetic and not damaged. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

All in all a nice original early British Army officers wool cotton shirt in good condition.
