Original WW2 British Army Drab Windproof Smock - Size 2

Original WW2 British Army Drab Windproof Smock - Size 2

Code: 55953

RESERVED

An original Second World War 'Smock, Drab' which was made in 1942.

This pattern of smock was introduced in 1942 and was based on the same design as the earlier Denim Windproof Smock. It is made from a lightweight, tan coloured gabardine material and features chocolate brown coloured buttons throughout, as were often used on mid-war clothing. A white drawstring is fitted around the mouth of the hood whilst another larger example can be fitted along the bottom seam.

Inside the smock the original label is present and bears the title of 'Smock, Drab'. Below this is the size of 2, the maker's name and the War Department broad arrow marking.

The smock is designed to fit around a 38" - 40" chest and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 29"
Inside arm - 19 1/2"
Outside arm - 20 1/4"
Shoulders - 25 3/4"
Length at rear - 28"

The smock is in nice condition with some signs of wear and age. It displays well and is totally wearable but has some light staining and overall displays very well. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

This is a nice example of a rare wartime smock which is very sought after today.
