An original pair of 1945 dated 1940 Pattern (Austerity) Battledress trousers in good used condition.

This pattern of trousers came into issue with the British Army in 1942 replacing the earlier 1940 pattern. They are an austerity pattern which do not feature belt loops, covered buttons to the pockets or tabs to the bottom of the legs. They are made from the standard khaki green serge wool used for British uniforms during this period and are fitted with green coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) buttons, typical of late war manufacture. The trousers are not the post-war 1946 pattern as they do not have the extra buttons for braces inside the waistband.

The trousers will suit someone of a 30" waist depending on desired fit. When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 14 3/4"
Inside leg - 28 1/2"

The trousers are in good condition with some signs of wear and use. There are a couple of small moth nips to the bottom of legs and there is a hole to the seat which are illustrated in the pictures and reflected in the price. Overall they display well and are still totally wearable but please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-owned item which have some small flaws commensurate with age.

A good pair of austerity pattern trousers of late war manufacture.
