An original set of 1944 dated British Army Anti Louse suit which has been heavily modified, most likely in Northwest Europe towards the end of the war, into a set of coveralls.

These suits were produced during the war as an all in one suit for delousing purposes. It is made from the standard green coloured denim cotton which was used for various workwear items by the British Army during this period.

The suits has been heavily modified with the rear opening being stitched up as well as the hood removed. This has been replaced with a butterfly style collar The leg ties towards the ankles have been removed as have the unclosed shoe sections. The waist belt has been retained as has the breast pocket. Two more patch pockets have also been added to the waist and were most likely made excess material. The conversion has clearly been professionally done and were quite likely converted on a large scale to repurpose the original overalls. Interestingly, the buttons are German military which would suggest they were converted in a liberated factory or a factory in Germany towards the end of the war or during the occupation period.

The rear of the suit bears the original label which is still bright and legible. It has the title 'Overall Anti-Louse' and bears the size of 4. The maker's name of 'F. Fryer & Co' below which is the War Department broad arrow marking and the 1944 date.

The overalls will suit up to a 40" chest and when laid flat they measure -

Chest - 23 1/2"
Inside arm - 20 1/4"
Outside arm - 27"
Shoulders -
Inside leg -

The overalls are in good condition with no real signs of wear or use. They are a vintage, pre-worn item however so please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

A nicely converted pair of set of overalls in a good size.
