An original British Military Khaki Drill Bush Jacket dating from the 1940s and in good condition.

This jacket is typical of those worn by men serving with the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force in the 1940s. It is a private purchase example, as is very common to find with officer's uniform from this period. Many officers bought their own uniform and equipment with Khaki Drill uniforms being no exception. This example was made in Bangalore in India for an officer who was serving there.

The jacket is made from a medium weight cotton drill and features long sleeves, an open collar and patch pockets to the chest. Bellows pockets can be found to the rear portion of the jacket and straps are fitted to each shoulder to which epaulettes can be fitted, suggesting this was intended for an RAF or Royal Navy officer. The jacket is fitted with revolving shank buttons which are removable for laundering purposes. The jacket comes complete with a matching waist belt which features a brass twin pronged buckle.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present and is typical of those used in India during the 1940s. It bears the maker's name of 'A. Azeez & Co Master Tailor' in blue against a white field.

The jacket is a smaller size which will suit around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 20"
Waist - 15"
Inside arm - 20"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Length - 29"
Shoulders - 17 3/4"

The jacket is in good wearable condition and displays well. There are some limited signs from age and use but overall it looks to be very wearable. There are some areas of discolouration as can be seen in the pictures. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice original period KD bush jacket which would suit a re-enactor or collector well.
