A very nice example of the 1940 Pattern (austerity) battledress Blouse dated 1943 in a size 9.
This pattern of battledress blouse came into issue with the British Army during 1942 and was the standard issue jacket until the end of the war.
This example is a size 9 which will fit a 38 - 40" chest. The numeral '9' is stamped on the inside pocket below the label as can be seen in the photograph.
The label has sadly been washed out but this is a guarenteed 1943 made battledress blouse. The WD stamp is present and surmounted by the letter 'N' which denotes 1943 as the year of manufacture.
The condition of the blouse is fantastic showing only limited signs of use. The nap of the serge is great and not worn away in any places and there are no rips, tears or signs of moth. There is one mark on the right sleeve that can be seen in the photographs.
All in all a fantastic original blouse in a good size which could be worn or displayed.
