An original Royal Hampshire Regiment coloured field service cap in good condition and dating from the Second World War.
This cap is made from a coarse navy blue wool and features yellow piping to the top edge of the skirt and a yellow section inside the fold of the crown as well as two brass general service buttons to the front. The cap is fitted with a bi-metal Royal Hampshire regimental cap badge. The interior of the cap is lined in black cotton and there is no sweatband, suggesting this is a wartime economy item. Inside the cap the original size label is still present and reads 6 7/8.
The cap is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. There is wear to the nap of the wool exterior and only limited signs of wear to the interior. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned hat.
A nice original regimental cap which would make a good addition to your collection!
Two pieces of cardboard have been cut to shape and fitted to the interior of the cap to help it stay in shape. They have been made out of packaging material which features a royal appointment to the King which helps to date this to pre 1953.
When laid flat the opening of the cap measures 10 1/4".
The cap is in good condition for its age and it displays well with signs of wear and use. Please study the pictures provided.
All in all a nice period cap which would make a good addition to any collection.
