An original Royal Artillery officer's coloured field service cap made around the time of the Second World War.
This cap is a high quality example which is much finer when compared to Other Ranks examples. It is made from red and navy blue coloured felted wool and features gold bullion piping around the top of the skirt and along the centre of the crown. Royal Artillery gilt buttons are fitted to the front of the cap and there is evidence of where a large cap badge was previously fitted, most likely a bullion example.
The interior of the cap is fully lined and features a velvet headband. There are two original labels, one of which is the size label which reads '6 7/8'.
The condition of the cap is good as can be seen in the pictures. It displays very well with only limited signs of wear and age but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-owned, vintage item.
A good example of a purchase cap which would be hard to better!
