An original 1948 Dated British Army Khaki Beret fitted with a Royal Army Service Corps cap badge.
This pattern of beret was used by motorised infantry, the Reconnaissance Corps, officers and many more during the Second World War. This example is made from the usual spun wool in khaki brown and is fitted with a brass RASC brass cap badge. There is a War Department acceptance stamp inside the hat which is surmounted by the letter 'R' which denotes 1948 as the year of issue. Whilst this is post-war, the pattern is identical to those used in WW2.
There beret is a smaller size which will suit around a 6 7/8 head size.
The beret is in worn condition and has suffered from some moth damage. This is detailed in the pictures and reflected in the price.
Whilst not perfect, this is a usable original example of a khaki beret which would make a good stand-in for a wartime example.
