Original 1946 Dated Canadian Khaki Beret

Original 1946 Dated Canadian Khaki Beret

Code: 52596

SOLD

An original 1946 dated Canadian made khaki beret as worn by motorised infantry, the reconnaissance corps, officers and many more during the Second World War.

The beret is made from a khaki brown coloured wool and features a vegetable tan leather sweatband and a black cotton drill lining. Two black metal vents are fitted to the underside of the hat although one is missing. The sweatband retains its original drawstring which is again khaki coloured.

Inside the cap the original markings are still bright and legible. The maker's name of 'Dorothea Knitting Mills' is present as is the size of 7 1/8 and the 1946 date. The Canadian acceptance stamp is also present and features the War Department broad arrow surrounded by the letter C.

The overall condition of the beret is good as can be seen in the pictures. There are some signs of age and wear but overall it displays very well.

Whilst dating from just after WW2, this beret is identical to those issued during the conflict and would make a good stand-in for a war dated example.
