Original 1940 Dated MKII No. 2C Steel Helmet by 'British Motor Bodies'

Original 1940 Dated MKII No. 2C Steel Helmet by 'British Motor Bodies'

Code: 54019

SOLD

An original 1940 Dated British Steel Helmet made by British Motor bodies still in its original blue / grey paint.

This helmet is a MKII Number 2C which is denoted by the three holes drilled in the side of the shell denoting it as a Helmet not to be used by frontline troops. They did however see use with Home Guard, RAF and predominantly the Civil Defence.

The helmet shell is stamped ‘BMB 1940’ by one of the chin strap lugs denoting British Motor Bodies as the manufacturer and 1940 as the year of manufacture. The liner is also dated 1940 and again made by ‘BMB’. This is stamped directly onto the liner as is the size of 7.

The shell itself is in good shape and still retains a large amount of its original paint finish. The chin strap appears to be original to the helmet and is in good condition.

Overall this is a nice original helmet with a clear early date.  It would make a great addition to any collection!
