An original German military rubberised overcoat which dates from the 1940s.
The coat is made from a deep olive green coloured rubberised cotton which has a shiny finish to the exterior. This fabric was favoured by the German military for many years due to its waterproof and windproof qualities. The coat features a wrap-over front which only fastens at the front with press studs towards the top of the opening. There is an angled map pocket located to the chest and large D-shaped pockets located towards the top of the skirt and also feature pocket flaps. The front of the skirt can be fastened open as illustrated in picture 9. The coat comes complete with its original matching waist belt with a metal slide buckle. There is a metal hook and eye at the neck and the cuffs fasten with press studs. All the press studs feature an apple green paint finish to the exterior.
The coat is designed to be worn over a uniform and is cut in a loose manner to allow for free movement. It will suit around a 40" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 23 1/2"
Inside arm - 22 1/2"
Outside arm - 27 1/2"
Shoulders - 18 1/2"
Length at rear - 55"
The coat is in good condition for its age with no serious flaws or damage. There are small areas where the rubberised finish is missing from the exterior of the coat and these are most notable around the shoulders arms and collar and can be seen in the pictures. The coat is totally wearable but far from perfect so please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a pre-worn, vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A great piece of design and cut from an interesting green fabric. Loads of great details!
