An original 1930s Black Leather German Flying Suit in good condition.
In many ways this suit is typical of those worn in the inter-war period. With its roots firmly in the Great War, this all in one suit is made of leather and features a full length 'RiRi' branded zipper as are commonly found on German items from this period. All the zips feature leather pull tabs with the main zipper featuring a large, diamond shaped puller. The collar shape and double dee ring belt belt fastening are typical of European items from this era. The cuffs also feature straps which again feature the same double dee ring style fastening. Epaulettes are located to the shoulders and fasten with buttons. Thigh pockets are also present and fasten with a single button to the corner of the pocket flap. Zip pockets are located at the hips and more zips are found at the bottom of each leg.
The interior of the suit is lined in a brown moleskin which is typical of German made leather items from this period. The number 80 has been stamped in red directly onto the material.
The suit is in good condition for its age and displays well. It shows signs of use but is still good overall. The main flaw is that one of the leg zips is missing its puller. The zip appears to be in good condition meaning that fitting a new puller should not be an issue. This would not be visible if displayed with a pair of period flying boots. There is also a hole to the leg as detailed in the picture . Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage item with small issues commensurate with age.
A rare 1930s flying suit with some absolutely fantastic details!
