An original pair of French Army officers' trousers dating from around the time of the Great War.
The trousers are made from a horizon blue coloured wool and feature a wide red stripe to each leg. The cut and materials used are typical of those used in the Great War and through to the 1930s meaning these could well date from the inter-war period. The trousers feature a high rise waist with pointed back which is typical of early items. Black buttons are fitted to fasten the fly and more similar buttons are located around the waist to which braces can be attached. The waistband is lined with a striped material and a stamp is printed directly onto this as shown in the pictures.
The trousers will fit someone of around a 30" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat they measures -
Waist - 15 1/4"
Rise - 15"
Rear rise - 21"
Inside leg - 28"
Outside leg - 41 1/2"
The trousers have been turned back and finished with an overlocker at some stage of the life meaning that they have been altered at a later stage. This does mean however that the leg can be let out to a 31" with ease.
The trousers are in reasonable condition overall, especially considering that they are over 100 years old. They display well but do have a couple of holes to the front which can be seen in the pictures. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that these are not a mint condition item.
A good pair of original trousers with some nice period details.
