An excellent original 1919 dated British Army 1908 pattern webbing ammunition pouch which was made by Mills Equipment Company.

This pattern of pouch was produced from 1908 and saw widespread use throughout the Great War by the British Army. The same webbing system was used throughout the inter-war period and was still being issued and produced at the beginning of the Second World War and saw service in France in 1939-40 before eventually being replaced with the new 1937 pattern webbing set.

This example was made in 1919 but is unchanged from those produced during WW1. It is made from the standard khaki coloured webbing material and features five flapped pockets to the front which fasten with brass press studs. To the rear of the pouch is the original manufacturer's stamp which bears the maker's name of 'MECo' followed by the 1919 date and the War Department broad arrow. There is also a large letter 'R' which denotes it as a right hand pouch.

The condition of the pouch is excellent as can be seen in the pictures. There are only limited signs of age etc and overall it is a clean example which displays well. Please study the pictures before purchasing as this is a pre-owned, vintage item.

A very nice example with clear maker and date markings.
