A rare original men's macintosh raincoat made by 'Belster' in America during the 1930s.
This coat is a lightweight raincoat which is made from a pale khaki coloured cotton linen mix. It features a single breasted front which fastens with three buttons and has the ability to be fastened at the neck with a fourth button, as illustrated in the pictures. It features twin patch pockets to the skirt and a smaller ticket pocket above the right hand pocket. The collar features a stitched detail which is replicated at the hem of the coat and reflects the fine workmanship and high quality so often found on early pieces such as this.
The interior of the coat features a separate fine wool lining which features a timeless plaid check pattern. There is a small hanging loop fitted to the neck below which is the maker's label. It features typical graphics for the period and has the brand name of 'The Belster' along with the US registered patent office number etc.
The coat is a smaller size which will suit a 34" - 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 16 1/2"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 17"
Length - 39 1/2"
The coat is in good condition for its age with only limited signs of wear and use. It has been worn and has some marks commensurate with age etc but overall it displays well. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A nice original interwar raincoat with some fantastic details and a great label.
