A rare original British sports jacket in a fantastic dogtooth cloth and good condition.
This jacket has all the classic traits of a 1930s British made casual jacket. Cut from a striking dogtooth checked cloth of oatmeal and brown with an orange boxcheck; the jacket features no rear vents, a notched lapel and only moderately padded shoulders - all typical 1930s traits. An angled welt pocket is located to the chest and flapped pockets can be found to the lower portion. The cuff features three buttons (one missing to the right sleeve) and leather trims have been added. Leather elbow patches have also been added which are typical, like the cuffs, of this style of jacket after years of wear.
The interior of the jacket is fully lined in rayon and features two interior pockets. The original hanging loop is made from the same material and present to the neck.
The jacket will suit a 40" chest and when laid flat measures -
Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 17 1/2"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 18 1/4"
Length - 30 1/2"
The jacket is in good condition with signs of wear and use. It was clearly well loved by it's original owner and very well cared for. There is a button missing to the right cuff and there is a period repair to the front as shown in the pictures. Overall it is a very wearable jacket which displays very well. It does however have small issues commensurate with age so please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.
A fantastic and rare pre-war British sports jacket in a striking fabric and with all the right details.
