An original American made men's single breasted lightweight jacket dating from the late 1950s or very early 1960s.
This jacket is made from a rayon cotton mix and is extremely light making it suitable for wear in hot weather. It is cut in a typical late 1950s - early 1960s style with thin lapels and is cut in a loose, slouchy manner. The front fastens with three buttons, there is a welt pocket to the chest and two flapped pockets to the lower portion. The rear features a single vent.
The interior of the jacket features a partial lining and twin inside pockets. Inside one of these are two labels. One bears the size of'40 REG' whilst the other is the union label. This does not feature the 'R' trademark which dates the jacket to being made before 1962.
The jacket is designed to fit someone with a 40" chest. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 17"
Outside arm - 25 1/4"
Length - 30 1/2"
Shoulders - 18"
The jacket is in good condition with some signs of wear and age. There is an area of stitching which has come away inside the right armpit to the lining although this would be easy enough to fix. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn jacket which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice original American jacket which is typical of the era.
