Original Edwardian British Navy Blue and Red Striped Workwear Jacket

Original Edwardian British Navy Blue and Red Striped Workwear Jacket

Code: 51713

SOLD

An original British Workwear Engineers jacket in a fantastic navy blue with red pinstripe and in good condition.

This jacket is hard to date exactly as it has no labels. However there are a number of clues to its age in the cut. The jacket features a high buttoning front, large patch pocket to the breast and a pronounced, rounded cutaway to the bottom front of the jacket. All these features are typical of jackets made in the earlier part of the 20th Century. The stamped brass buttons are also commonly seen on military and workwear items throughout the first half of the 20th Century.

The jacket is made from a navy blue cotton drill which features a red pinstripe giving it a bold look. The sleeves are wide cut and the cuff features a notch to allow for extra movement.

The jacket is cut in a reasonably loose fashion to allow for movement and will fit someone of around a 38" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measure -

Chest - 21 1/2"
Inside arm - 17 1/4"
Outside arm - 24"
Shoulders - 17 1/2"
Length - 28 1/2"

The jacket is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. It is very wearable but does have some staining to the upper portion of the sleeves as shown in the pictures. It displays very well considering it is a vintage work jacket but please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn piece of vintage workwear.

A really fantastic looking early workwear jacket which would make a great addition to any collection or wardrobe!
