An original 1940s CC41 Two Piece Blue Pinstripe Suit in distressed condition.

This suit is an authentic 1940s suit made under the CC41 utility scheme which was introduced in 1941 as part of the wider economy drive in Great Britain. This example most likely dates from the earlier part of the scheme as the label does not feature the cloth code seen on later items. Of particular note on this suit is the straight jacket cuff which has no buttons and the lack of a turn up to the bottom of the trousers, both of which are typical wartime utility measures.

The jacket is a single breasted three buttons example which features a lovely peaked lapel. In keeping with the style of the period the jacket is cut short in the body, a style often referred to as 'bum freezer', and there are no vents to the rear. The interior is fully lined with a black rayon material and the CC41 utility logo is stitched to the lining inside the neck. The jacket comes complete with a green crepe pocket square which has clearly always been with the jacket. It is again in distressed condition sadly.

The trousers are cut with a high rise waist and wide leg as was the fashion at the time. The fly fastens with buttons and more buttons are fitted around the waist to which braces can be attached. There is no turn up to the bottom of the leg and a single rear pocket is present to the rear of the trousers.

The suit is a small suit designed to fit someone of around a 34" chest and 30" waist depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Jacket
Chest - 18 1/2"
Inside arm - 17 3/4"
Outside arm - 25"
Shoulders - 15 1/2"
Length - 26 1/2"

Trousers
Waist - 15"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 18 1/2"
Inside leg - 29 1/2"
Outside leg - 42"
Cuff - 9 1/4"

The suit is in distressed condition with various areas of damage to both the jacket and trousers. This is detailed to the best of my ability in the photographs and has been reflected in the price. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

Whilst this suit is not in good condition it is still an authentic wartime utility suit with some great details.
