An original handknitted jumper dating from approximately the 1940s and in a large size.
Due to the fact that this item is hand knitted it is impossible to date accuratley. It is however typical of those made in the 1940s as a 'forces comfort' item and would not look out of place worn with an RAF uniform or period suit.
The jumper is made from a blue coloured wool and features a contrasting collar and sleeve openings which are a slightly darker blue. The front features a cable knit design.
The jumper is a larger size which will suit someone of around a 42" chest and when laid flat measures -
Chest - 21"
Length - 29 1/2"
The jumper is in reasonable condition for its age and is still very wearable. There are a number of stains as can be seen in the pictures and some signs of wear as this is a pre-worn vintage item.
A typical example of a period jumper which could suit a re-enactor or similar.
