Code: 52846

SOLD

An original men's two piece suit dating from the early 1960s, designed by Hardy Amies and made by 'Hepworths'.

This suit is typical of those made in the early 1960s and shares many characteristics of late 1950s suits. It is cut from a grey coloured cloth which features a subtle stripe. The jacket features a two button closure, flapped lower pockets and a single breast pocket. The jacket is fully canvassed and the rear features no vents. The jacket is fully lined and features the maker's label which reads 'Designed by Hardy Amies hand cut by Hepworths'. Inside the interior pocket is yet another label which bears the date of 10/11/64

The trousers are again typical of the period featuring a high rise waist and a cuff. The fly fastens with a 'Aero' brand zipper and buttons are located around the inside edge of the waistband to which braces can be attached. Angle slash pockets are located to each hip and the rear of the trousers features twin pockets. Side adjusters are located on each hip meaning that the waist size can be decreased.

The suit is a larger size which was designed to fit a 38" chest and when laid flat measures -

Jacket -

Chest - 21"
Inside arm - 16 1/2"
Outside arm - 24 3/4"
Shoulders - 18"
Length - 38 1/2"

Trousers

Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 17"

The suit is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. It has been worn and shows signs of wear and age with some minor staining including a mark to the left sleeve. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage pre-worn suit with small issues commensurate with age.

A nice suit which is typical of the period!
