Original 1960s Men's Raincoat by 'Hepworths'

Original 1960s Men's Raincoat by 'Hepworths'

Code: 51705

SOLD

An original men's raincoat made by 'Hepworths' during the 1960s.

This style of single breasted raincoat was very popular in the UK in the 1960s. This example is particularly nice as it features a matching waist belt which is seldom encountered in this style.

The coat is made from a poly cotton mix in a beige colour whilst the inside features a classic burberry style check made from acetate. Slash pockets are fitted to each side and the cuffs feature a tab detail. A hanging chain is situated at the neck.

The original labels are still present and state the style as 'Driback' and the maker as 'Hepworths' - a prolific manufacturer of menswear in the UK during the mid century period. A second label states the material as 'Diolen cotton' which is a 65% Polyester, 35% Balmwoole mix.

The coat is cut wide as it was designed to be worn as an outer layer over a suit or similar. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 24 1/2"
Inside arm - 17 1/4"
Outside arm - 25"
Shoulders - 19"
Length - 37"

The coat is in good condition with some signs of age and wear. There are some stains and marks but nothing that overly detracts from the coat. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn vintage item.

A nice 1960s coat with some great details!
