Original 1960s French Black Moleskin Chore Jacket - Size S

SOLD

A nice original French Chore Jacket made from a black moleskin material during the 1960s.

This type of jacket is synonymous with northern European artisans, workers and labourers of the mid-century period and is arguably the most iconic jacket ever produced in France.

The jacket is made from a lovely black coloured moleskin material which is heavy yet soft to the touch and has a sheen to it. The collar of the jacket is typical in shape and size of those found on 1960s chore jackets. The jacket features a small patch pocket to the breast and two larger patch pockets to the skirt. All the buttons are metal examples which are typical of French workwear items from this period.

Inside the jacket there is a single interior pocket to which the original label is attached. It bears the maker's name of 'Barbe Bleue' and the words 'Fabrique en France'. There is also a size label fitted to the collar which denotes the size as 46 which equates to a 36" chest. When laid flat it  measures -

Chest - 21”
Inside arm - 20”
Outside arm - 24”
Shoulders - 18”
Length - 28”

The condition of the jacket is good condition with only limited signs of wear and age. There are no serious flaws or damage and overall it presents very well and is totally wearable. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn workwear jacket which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A good original example in nice condition made from the highly desirable black moleskin material.
