Original 1960s British Oilskin Trousers

Original 1960s British Oilskin Trousers

Code: 52009

SOLD

An original pair of oilskin trousers made in the UK in the 1960s.

This style of trousers was popular with men working outside in wet conditions. They could have been used on the docks or possibly at sea and most likely had a matching coat. They are made from a PVC oilskin material which was popular for this type of workwear in the mid Century period. Two brass eyelets are fitted to the waist through which is passed a drawstring to tighten the trousers around the wearers waist. Slash pockets are located on each hip but otherwise the trousers are made in a utilitarian, austere manner.

Inside the trousers are marked 'P.L.A' in white which most likely denotes the body to which they were originally purchased for.

The trousers are designed to be worn over clothes as a waterproof outer layer and are therefore cut in an oversize fashion. When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 20"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear rise - 18 1/2"
Inside leg - 32"
Outside leg - 46 1/2"
Cuff - 10"

The trousers are in good condition with only limited signs of wear and use. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that these are a pair of vintage workwear trousers which may have small issues commensurate with their age.

A nice pair of mid Century oilskin trousers!
