An original six button doeskin waistcoat by 'Belvoir' in a cinnamon brown coloured doeskin.
This type of waistcoat was extremely popular with men during the 1950s and 60s and formed a part of many wardrobes throughout this period. This example dates from the 1960s and features two upper welt pockets and lower flapped pockets to the front. Classic fox head buttons are used to fasten the front - these were a popular choice for waistcoats at the time. The backing is typical of the period and features a cinch back as many waistcoats do.
Inside the waistcoat is fully lined and retains its original manufacturer's label. It states the maker's name as 'Belvoir Phillips & Piper Ltd' below which is the pure new wool logo and the words 'dry clean only' which date the garment to being made after 1964.
The waistcoat will suit someone of around a 40" chest depending on desired fit and when liad flat it measures -
Chest - 20"
Length at front - 25 1/2"
Length at back - 22 3/4"
The overall condition of the waistcoat appears to be very good as can be seen in the photographs. It is very wearable and displays well but has some signs of wear and use. Please bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which has small flaws commensurate with age.
These doeskin waistcoats are quintessentially English and are still a great choice today!
