An original American made men's single breasted lightweight jacket dating from 1959.
This jacket is made from a rayon cotton mix and is extremely light making it suitable for wear in hot weather. It is cut in a typical late 1950s - early 1960s style with thin lapels and wide on the chest. The front fastens with three buttons, there is a welt pocket to the chest and two flapped pockets to the lower portion. The rear features a single vent.
The interior of the jacket features a partial lining and twin inside pockets. There are also a number of labels, one of which includes the maker's name of 'Hickey-Freeman'. Another label is found inside the interior pocket and bears the date of 8th June 1959 and below this is the union label.
The jacket is an extra large size which will fit a 46" chest. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 25"
Inside arm - 18 1/2"
Outside arm - 27"
Length - 34"
Shoulders - 20 1/2"
The jacket is in good condition with some signs of wear and age. There is some damage to the lining which is reflected in the price and detailed in the pictures. This does not affect the way the jacket looks when worn. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn jacket which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A good original American jacket which is typical of the era.
