An original reversible baseball style jacket dating from the 1950s and in good condition.
This style of jacket became extremely popular in the 1950s and are often referred to as 'Baseball jackets' They are now a classic design which is instantly recognisable. This example stands out however for two reasons - The first is that it is an early example and the second is the fact that it is reversible. One side of the jacket is made from a deep, navy blue coloured wool whilst the other is made from a grey coloured tight weave cotton which is thick and looks hard wearing. Both sides feature slash pockets and blue painted brass pop studs fasten the front, which helps to date the jacket. The collar is of knitted wool and features cream stripes running through the navy blue background. The cuffs and waistband are made from the same material giving the jacket a nice solid continuity.
The jacket is a small size which will suit around a 36" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 21"
Waist - 15 3/4"
Inside arm - 16 1/2"
Outside arm - 21 1/2"
Shoulders - 17"
Length - 21 1/2"
The jacket is in good condition overall and is still totally wearable. It shows signs of wear and use but overall it displays well. There are no serious signs of undue wear or age, save for a loss of stitching under the arm on the light coloured cotton style as detailed in picture 9. Please study the pictures carefully before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
