A fantastic original German Chore Jacket made from a black cotton material during the 1950s.
This type of jacket is synonymous with northern European artisans, workers and labourers of the mid-century period and is arguably the most iconic jacket ever produced in France. Based on the buttons, this example originates from Germany.
The jacket is made from a lovely black coloured cotton material which is soft to the touch and has a sheen to it very much like moleskin. The collar of the jacket is typical in shape and size of those found on 1950s chore jackets. The jacket features a small patch pocket to the breast and two larger patch pockets to the skirt. All the buttons are metal examples which are typical of German workwear items from this period.
The jacket is a large size which will suit a 40" chest well. When laid flat it measures -
Chest - 23”
Inside arm - 21 3/4”
Outside arm - 24 1/2”
Shoulders - 18 1/2”
Length - 29”
The condition of the jacket is good condition considering it is a vintage work piece. It has no serious flaws but some light staining and signs of wear and use. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn workwear jacket which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A good original example made from the highly desirable black material.
