An original British PVC motorcycle jacket which was made by 'Arthurian' during the early 1950s.

This style of jacket was very popular in the 1950s and provided a practical and cheap alternative to leather coats and jackets. Polyvinyl chloride clothing saw a boom in the post-war period when this jacket was made with a number of manufacturer's producing jackets such as this. This example is made from a brown coloured vinyl which features an imitation leather finish. The front fastens with a lightning brand zipper which features a locking puller with the logo design used during the 1940s and 1950s. There are four pockets to the front which all feature angled zips which are again made by 'Lightning'. The jacket comes complete with its matching waist belt which fastens with a brown coloured molded plastic buckle.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present at the neck and features typical period graphics with the maker's name of 'Arthurian Regd Product'.

The jacket will suit around a 38" - 40" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 19"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 19"
Length at rear - 29 1/2"

The jacket is in very good condition for its age with only limited signs of wear and age. There are no serious flaws or damage and it is a very wearable jacket. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A really special 1950s outerwear piece with great details and a lovely label.
