An original set of overalls which were made by 'Bolenium' in the 1950s.
This style of overalls was very popular in the UK throughout the 1940s and 1950s. They are made from a khaki coloured cotton drill and feature pleated patch pockets to the breast, a patch pocket to the seat and a spanner pocket to the side of the right leg. The front fastens with 'Bolenium' branded metal buttons which are removable for washing purposes and the fly fastens with two piece metal buttons as are often found on late 1930s to early 1940s British military work clothing. There are belt loops fitted to the waist although no waist belt is included.
Inside the overalls is the classic Bolenium label which bears the maker's name in yellow set on a blue field. The words 'Super Overalls' are also present as is the size of 40.
The overalls are designed to fit a 40" chest and when laid flat they measure -
Chest - 21 1/2"
Waist - 20 1/2"
Inside arm - 19"
Outside arm - 24"
Shoulders - 18 1/2"
Inside leg - 29"
Cuff - 10"
The overalls are in good condition with various signs of previous wear and use. There are a couple of period repairs including a darn to the front of the right leg and a repair to the seat which are both illustrated in the pictures. The overalls display well and are still very wearable but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
